The Best Way to Clean Windows — No Streaks, No Guesswork

There's a right way to clean windows and about a dozen wrong ways that still get repeated because they're what everyone's always done. Paper towels, glass spray, a sunny afternoon — it feels productive, and it usually leaves streaks anyway. Here's the actual best method, in the order that matters.

Pick the Right Time

Never clean windows in direct sunlight. It feels like the obvious time to do it, but sun and heat dry the cleaning solution before you can wipe it off — that's what bakes streaks directly into the glass. An overcast day, early morning, or evening gives the solution time to actually do its job before it evaporates.

Use the Right Tools

This is where most of the streaking problem actually lives. Paper towels and cotton rags leave lint behind and push dirt around rather than lifting it off.
